9 Feb 2011 We will compare RUP with Waterfall to analyze its efficiency. basis of newer and rapid development approaches such as Agile Development.
Rational Unified Process (RUP) is an agile software development method, in which the life cycle of a project, or the development of software, is divided into four phases. Various activities take place during these phases: modelling, analysis and design, implementation, testing and application. The Rational Unified Process (RUP) is iterative, meaning repeating; and agile.
I find that what it really does is encourage team members to be proactive, ergo if you have a team that is all ready proactive its not really neccessary and can be burdensome. RUP is considered iterative or repetitive because the process s core activities repeat throughout the project. Its components can be adjusted and the cycle phases can be repeated until the project or software meets its requirements, making it agile. Dimensions of the Rational Unified Process I wanted to know the difference between agile lifecycle and agile unified process(AUP). I do understand that AUP is a modified version of RUP using agile methodology.
XL. What are key differences There are many other differences in principles behind the two approaches. An Agile approach is based on an empirical process control model where RUP is based on somewhat of a defined process model. Agile is based on empowered teams where RUP typically uses more of a traditional project management approach. As you can see from the rup vs agile Comparison table that both rup vs agile approaches have different tasks and benefits to offer. So it is important for you to understand all about them because being a software developer, it is mandatory for you to know about these two approaches and others if any. 2010-12-20 · Both methodologies are considered to be Agile and approach project activities in the iterative way.

RUP is a Model Driven code generation from UML diagrams which have previously captured the requirements. This is therefore a top down process. Agile is a permanent top down, down top processes. I would say that even if RUP is not used you can use UML with agile methodologies as long as your model could be automatically updated from your code.

Thanks! This could be a really long answer, but I will try and keep this short :-) You actually do get a RUP-like template as part of RTC - the KEY DIFFERENCE. DevOps is a practice of bringing development and operations teams together whereas Agile is an iterative approach that focuses on collaboration, customer feedback and small rapid releases. DevOps focuses on constant testing and delivery while the Agile process focuses on constant changes. If you are new to Agile, it may hard to wrap your head around the concept.
